Skills for the Future
Educational institution JA Europe in partnership with Hyundai Motor Europe created a project Skills for the Future to support the education of young people interested in science, technology, engineering and who want to acquire entrepreneurial skills.
- necessary skills recognitionfor life and work in automobile industry,
- opportunity to cooperate with the Hyuindai employees,
- students personal development and the development of soft skills,
- preparation of students for thier further studies, acquiring initial work experiences,
- help students to understand economic principles which affect decision-making in business,
- provide practical experience in the business.
Students acquire theoretical knowledge directly in practice. They set up student companies that simulates the operation of joint stock companies in the automotive industry. The purpose is to give young people a chance to break into the issues of company functioning from its inception to a disposal. The students set up their own student company for the period of one school year, which, led by a teacher and Hyundai consultant works as any other company on the market. During the work they learn the practical side of the business and company management, learn to communicate, collaborate, think creatively and solve problems.
Meetings with consultants
Experts from different Hyundai departments come to schools where they communicate with students. These volunteers are not only professional idols for students, but above all enrich classes with their expertise. Meetings lasts 90 minutes, during which students carry out various activities and lead a discussion based on case studies.
One of the most important parts of the project are teacher workshops of project managers with teachers and Hyundai employees. The idea of these meetings is to motivate teachers and provide them with ongoing support throughout the school year.
For all the participating schools there is an opportunity to enter a competition JA Entrepreneurial Talents Trade Fair, where Hyundai awards The best idea of the product or service in the automotive industry.
The winning team has an opportunity to enter the European final Hyundai Skills for the Future Award, which brings the best ideas and teams from across Europe together. In the school year 2014/2015 the European final took place in Prague and two Slovak teams took part - WINTIS (Stredná priemyselná škola, Levice) a WAY (Obchodná akadémia, Levice), who won the second place.
